What we are doing

We are working to strengthen Las Omas Civil Association, a community space where 500 women carry out training workshops and develop productive activities.  We are building an area-workshop with the relevant sanitary conditions, so they can have their own place to train in different subjects, such as sewing, bakery, hairdressing, and to develop productive endeavors. The project includes the implementation of organizational improvements to strengthen the civil association.

Why

Las Omas Civil Association seeks to improve the quality of life of the women that were socially excluded, affected by gender violence, and mothers in vulnerable situations. They offer skills training programs, such as hairdressing, baking, and dressmaking. Furthermore, they support endeavors in which 250 women organized the manufacture and commercialization of textile products, looking to favor their financial independence. Currently, the organization does not have a place of its own, they perform their activities in a small space that limits the offer of activities and hinders the development of initiatives that require a bigger space.

With the implementation of this project, we will:

  • Promote a training and containment space for women.
  • Foster financial independence of women.
  • Extend the offer of Las Omas activities.
  • Train women that are part of the organization in the construction trade.
  • Provide an installed capacity for the sustainability and growth of the organization.
