What we are doing

We are focusing on producing and installing efficient and sustainable kitchens for 10 community dining halls in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA).

Why?

In a context where nearly 40% of the Argentine population lives in poverty, and 10 million people cannot access basic food, community dining halls are crucial spaces for the care and support of families. It is necessary to consider alternative cooking methods, as the use of bottled gas is limiting and costly. The efficient wood-burning kitchens we are building operate using firewood for ignition and, due to their efficiency, reduce cooking times. They also contribute to the economic sustainability of organizations and have a low environmental impact

With the IMPLEMENTATION of this project, we:

  • Providing food security for 3500 people in 10 neighborhoods of the AMBA region.
  • Training neighbors in the construction of these devices, as well as the cooks who will use them.
  • Strengthening the work of community dining halls, particularly those associated with La Poderosa, and supporting their cooks.
  • Contributing to the economic sustainability of community dining halls.
