What we are doing

We are working on the expansion of a residence hall in Santiago del Estero that belongs to Fundación Sí. It is located in El Zanjón neighborhood, Santiago del Estero. The aim is that more young people, who live in remote rural areas, have access to tertiary and university education. The expansion will be reflected in a third module, of 160 square meters.

Why

Young people that live in remote rural areas in Santiago del Estero have limited educational and employment opportunities. Both, the significant distances between their homes and the residences, and the insufficient incomes they have, result in a difficult access to higher education for them. By being able to have accommodation, food, material for study, travel expenses, medical assistance, and support, students are now able to have access to a bachelor degree, and can complete it fully. Due to the expansion of the residence hall, more young people will be able to have a university diploma, and later become active players of the local development of their communities, and inspire other young men and women who also want to reach new horizons.

With this project we will

  • Improve the life standard of young people from remote rural areas and their families.
  • Promote a greater access to higher education for young people.
  • Encourage new opportunities for local development in remote rural areas.
