What we have done

We led the design and structural calculation as well as sanitation facilities and backed up the building of a public high school privately managed in Ramon Carrillo neighborhood.  The school will be a high school degree with an emphasis in Art and will belong to the parish of Immaculate Conception. The architect aspect of the project was carried out by teachers and students of Architecture III, Pedemonte professorship of the University of Design, Architecture and Urbanism of UBA (FADU) [University of Buenos Aires].

Why

Ramon Carrillo neighborhood is made of 15000 residents and currently there is no high school educational institution in the area.  There is a high dropout rate due to difficulties on transportation and different obligations that often fall in young people, such as the care of little brothers or the need to start working. As a direct consequence, there is a very low rate of middle school enrollment. This situation creates difficulties on job placement and deepens the vulnerability of the neighborhood residents. For such a reason, having a high school promotes inclusion and equal opportunities for young people residing in the neighborhood.

WITH THIS PROJECT WE

  • Reversed the high level of school dropouts and to strengthen girls, boys, and teenagers’ rights within the neighborhood.
  • Promoted school inclusion and job placement for young people.
  • Promoted equal opportunities for the community.
  • Promoted an active relationship between the academic environment and those communities that are in a vulnerable position.
