PROJECT STATUS: IN PROGRES
TECHNICAL AREA: ENERGY
Pablo Di Pasquo
What we are doing
We are currently supplying electric power for basic uses by installing photovoltaic systems in the community housing and also installing a system that helps amplify the mobile telecommunication signal. Special emphasis will be placed on training the residents in installing, using and maintaining the equipment.
“El Negrito” is an isolated rural community located in Santiago del Estero province, Argentine Republic. This community is formed by eleven families which are in a vulnerable position regarding access to basic services such as water, energy and health care.
In addition to this, the only means of communication they have within the community is a short-wave radio. This deepens their isolation making it much harder to link with nearby communities, to access health care in emergency situations, to develop their commercial projects and to access to all kind of supplies for the community.
WITH THIS PROJECT WE WILL
Enable the use of electric and lighting appliances in each household.
Facilitate the communication between the residents by a mobile telecommunication signal amplification system.
Train the residents on the operation of the equipment so they can manage its maintenance.
